Hatch, NM

Observations:  We stopped by Hatch specifically to stop at the Hatch Chile pepper market, which we enjoyed and picked up several products. And took some fun photos with lots of red-colored decor!

Hatch  walkability score indicated many of life's errands can be done on foot or bicycle. Their AARP Livability Index was lower than the national average, indicating there are areas for improvement around such topics as civic engagement, community opportunity and environment.

The walkability score acknowledges that Dining/drinking, groceries, shopping, parks, schools, and some entertainment can be reached by foot to some degree.  But I would say this score is complicated by the fact that the main street Franklin is a highway through-fare and traveled by heavy traffic which makes for a tricky street crossing.

My basic online research didn’t find anything specific to share regarding placemaking activities in Hatch. However, I did find lots of great information about the Hatch Chile Festival!
